Frontenac State Park
Frontenac State Parks 2,773 acres lie adjacent to Lake Pepin, a wide stretch of the Mississippi River. This park offers spectacular views of the Mississippi River Valley and Lake Pepin. There are man hiking, biking, and ski trails that traverse along the lake shore and through bottomland hardwood forest where the bird-watching is excellent. The park is among the states few nesting areas for the prothonotary warbler, and bald eagles are common in winter. Long ago, some experiments for a "flying machine" were conducted off the bluff of Point-No-Point which is now the park's picnic area.
