The Native Americans, that once inhabited this area, practiced ecology by burning off the slopes annually to insure the continuing growth of plants and trees they used. Better Homes and Gardens magazine once called Buena Vista Park "one of the river valley's finest natural balconies." You can visit the park by taking County E (on the south end of Main St.) up to Buena Vista Park or hike up the walking trail starting on 2nd St.
