Blackhawk Park
Built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, This park is located 3 miles north of De Soto. This location is known for being the site of the battle of Bad Axe. The last Indian-American battle fought east of the Mississippi River. A wide variety of recreational activities are available to meet every visitor's tastes. Blackhawk Park hosts over 50 picnic sites, 150 campsites, 2 boat ramps, 7 rest rooms, a shower facility and a beach. Fishing and boating are popular activities at this park. In the Summertime, Park Rangers provide a variety of programs and activities. Interpretive programs may cover such topics as recreation, local history, and the environment. Other activities range from guided walks and campfire talks to natural craft programs. The beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing and castle building.
